Positive Economic Indicator: Las Vegas Printer Included in Top 100 National Industry Performers
The June 2011 print industry trade magazine, QUICK PRINTING (QP), published its recent survey, which ranks the nation’s TOP 100 quick printers. In her article, Karen Lowery Hall specifically highlights A&B Printing and Mailing (A&B) for its listing debut accomplishment. She says, “QP’s top performers offer evidence that the economic recovery has begun in earnest . . . There are 15 new companies in this year’s list. The highest debut spot goes to Las Vegas-based A&B Printing and Mailing, which comes in at #29 with sales of 5.78 Million.” A&B is the only Nevada printer to make the list.
According to Hall, “Last year’s group took a precipitous plunge of more than 15%; the worst performance in the history of this study.” She indicates that many of last year’s participants have gone out of business or were absorbed by larger firms, but adds, “The good news is that the TOP 100 sales in 2010 were up by 3.85% for a total of $532,166,791 . . . the better news is that this group posted a sales increase of 7.27% over its own performance in 2009.”
Regarding this article, the publisher of Quick Printing, Kelley Holmes, says, "The 2011 Top 100 Printers represent an elite group of businesses that have survived one of the most difficult recessions of our generation. Kathy Gillespie and the A&B Printing and Mailing team can celebrate this honor and know that their business is in prime position as we rebuild our economy. Congratulations on this achievement."
Kathy Gillespie, co-owner of A&B says, “We are so proud to make this national list. We thank our loyal clients and our team of employees who work so hard to serve them. Running a business isn’t easy for anyone these days, so it’s nice to see that the printing industry is starting to turn around. We do hope that this is a positive indicator for Las Vegas. Barbara Allen and I remain committed to our clients and employees.
Meeting the printing needs of both locals and visitors since 1989, A&B was acquired by Kathy Gillespie and Barbara Allen in 1999. It has grown to be one of the largest women-owned commercial printers in Las Vegas. With more than 39 highly trained printing professionals and state of the art equipment, it serves large and small local businesses, federal and local government and the convention industry at its 25,000 square foot printing plant.
A&B is Nevada’s first tri-certified green printer that offers a wide range of commercial printing, prepress, bindery and finishing services. It also offers mailing fulfillment, variable digital printing, data processing, and a wide-gamut of indoor and outdoor signage services. As a union-run shop, A&B Printing and Mailing is the preferred vendor of choice for many corporations and political campaigns.
